Privacy Policy for Research Ads
Last updated: 11 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Research Ads application processes information when using Google services, including Google OAuth and the Google Ads API.
1. About the application
Research Ads is a research software tool used to create, manage and analyse Google Ads campaigns conducted for the purpose of recruiting participants to online surveys and other research projects.
The application is primarily used as a desktop/internal research tool and is not intended to operate as a public advertising management platform for third parties.

3. Information accessed through Google services
Research Ads may connect to Google services using Google OAuth 2.0 and the Google Ads API.
Depending on the permissions granted by the user, the application may access information necessary to operate Google Ads campaigns, including:
- Google Ads account identifiers,
- campaign information,
- ad groups,
- advertisements,
- keywords and targeting settings,
- campaign budgets and bidding settings,
- campaign status information,
- advertising performance statistics,
- impressions,
- clicks,
- conversions,
- costs and other campaign performance metrics.
Research Ads does not request access to information that is not required for its advertising and research-related functionality.
4. Purpose of processing
Information obtained through Google services is used only for purposes directly related to the functionality of Research Ads, including:
- creating and configuring advertising campaigns,
- managing campaigns used to recruit research participants,
- monitoring campaign performance,
- analysing the effectiveness and cost of respondent recruitment,
- generating research-related statistics and reports,
- troubleshooting and maintaining the application.
Google user data is not used for unrelated advertising, profiling or marketing purposes.
5. OAuth authentication data
Research Ads uses Google OAuth 2.0 to authenticate access to Google Ads accounts.
OAuth access tokens, refresh tokens or similar authentication credentials may be stored locally or in the application's secured configuration in order to maintain access authorised by the user.
Authentication credentials are used solely to communicate with Google APIs on behalf of the authorised user.
They are not sold, rented or shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
6. Storage of data
Research Ads is primarily a desktop application.
Data obtained from Google Ads may be processed and stored locally on the computer where the application is used.
Depending on the application's configuration, locally stored information may include:
- campaign configuration,
- campaign identifiers,
- advertising statistics,
- research-related metadata,
- authentication tokens,
- generated reports.
The application is not designed to provide public access to this information.
7. Sharing of information
Information obtained through Google services is not sold to third parties.
Google user data may only be disclosed where necessary:
- to operate the application,
- where required by law,
- to protect the security and integrity of the application,
- with the explicit consent of the user.
Research Ads does not provide third parties with access to Google Ads account data for their own independent marketing purposes.
8. Google API Services User Data Policy
Research Ads' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In particular, information obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide or improve the user-facing functionality of Research Ads.
9. Data retention
Information obtained through Google services is retained only for as long as necessary for the operation of the application, research purposes, technical troubleshooting or legal obligations.
Locally stored data may be deleted by removing the application's stored data or configuration.
OAuth access may also be revoked at any time through the user's Google Account security settings.
10. Revoking Google account access
Users may revoke Research Ads' access to their Google Account at any time through their Google Account settings.
After access has been revoked, Research Ads will no longer be able to retrieve new information from the user's Google account unless access is granted again.
Any locally stored authentication credentials associated with the revoked access should no longer be usable.
11. Data security
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect information processed by Research Ads against:
- unauthorised access,
- accidental disclosure,
- loss,
- alteration,
- misuse.
Because Research Ads is primarily used as a local desktop application, the security of the computer on which it is installed also affects the security of locally stored data.
12. Research participants
Research Ads is used to manage advertising campaigns that may direct users to external research surveys.
The application itself does not necessarily collect survey responses.
Any personal data collected within a survey is subject to the privacy information provided for the specific research project or survey.
13. Children's privacy
Research Ads is not designed to knowingly collect Google account information from children.
Advertising campaigns and research projects using the application should comply with applicable legal and ethical requirements concerning minors.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the functionality of Research Ads changes, when Google API requirements change, or when applicable legal requirements change.
The current version will be published on this page together with the date of the latest update.
